For more than a decade, Zion Forever Project has hosted a celebration called the Plein Air Art Invitational in Zion National Park and the Springdale community. We are proud to expand the event this year, inviting not only renowned plein air artists, but also studio artists to capture the beauty of Zion National Park. We look forward to continuing to explore different art mediums and methods that celebrate the legacy of the arts coming together in support of the public lands we love.
Artists will be painting in the park and throughout the community all week long, with proceeds from the sale of this work going back to support Zion National Park. Tuesday – Thursday artists will be participating in free public art demonstrations outside of Cable Mountain Lodge, the last stop on the Springdale shuttle line. These free demos are a great way to engage with the artists, as they provide painting tips and tricks, along with the option to purchase their demonstration pieces!
Last year, thanks to the support of the artists, art purchasers, and community sponsors, we were able to raise over $74,000 to give back to our public lands.
Returning from last year’s invitational are Michelle Condrat, Bill Cramer, Roland Lee, James McGrew, Gregory Stocks, Paula Swain, and Jim Woodark. Also returning from previous years are Stephen Stauffer, Suze Woolf, Ellie Wilson, and John Cogan. New additions include Allen Brockbank, Philip Carlton, and Wade Wixom.
