Program Support at Cedar Breaks National Monument
Have you ever been able to attend one of the night sky programs at Cedar Breaks National Monument? Or enjoyed one of their snowshoe hikes at 10,000 ft? The staff that help provide those great programs are in part funded through the Program Support provided by Zion Forever Project.
Cedar Breaks National Monument relies on youth employment to expand how the park connects people to their public lands. With limited permanent staff, seasonal youth employees are essential for sustaining interpretation and education programs that reach visitors year-round.
These positions support guided snowshoe hikes, astronomy programs, and field-based education for local schools. These are programs that are in demand and deeply valued by the community.
“This experience taught me how to engage diverse audiences and share science and stewardship in an accessible way. It was both personally rewarding and professionally valuable.” -Emily Childs, seasonal support staff member at Cedar Breaks.
Our project, Program Support at Cedar Breaks, also safeguards long-term resource protection. By helping people understand and value Cedar Breaks’ landscapes, youth employees foster responsible recreation and a shared ethic of care. This investment prepares the next generation of interpreters and stewards while ensuring visitors of today and tomorrow experience the park at its best. Experiences with our youth employees will leave members of the public engaged, informed, and inspired to protect Cedar Breaks.
Funding will provide wages for youth staff who help deliver safe, accurate, and engaging experiences for thousands of visitors and students. This investment strengthens public understanding and stewardship of Cedar Breaks’ unique natural and cultural resources.
