Replace NPS Arrowheads at Entrances and Museum

Replace NPS Arrowheads at Entrances and Museum

What does it mean to leave a legacy in a place as timeless as Zion National Park? For millions of visitors, it starts with an arrowhead—an NPS symbol that connects people to the park services' history and mission. Since its adoption in 1951, the National Park Service (NPS) arrowhead has represented the agency’s commitment to preserving natural and cultural treasures. The Sequoia tree and bison highlight vegetation and wildlife, the mountains and water signify scenic and recreational values, and the arrowhead itself reflects the rich historical and archaeological significance of the lands the NPS protects.

At Zion National Park, the prominent arrowhead signs at the park's entrances and museum have greeted millions of visitors, becoming synonymous with the Zion experience. For decades, these signs have weathered the elements, serving as both navigational aids and cherished photo landmarks. However, years of harsh sun, wind, and rain have taken their toll, necessitating an upgrade to maintain their iconic presence.

The new signs will be crafted from high-density urethane (HDU) foam, a material celebrated for its durability and resilience against extreme weather. Unlike their wooden predecessors, the HDU foam signs are designed to resist cracking, fading, and deterioration, ensuring they remain a striking welcome for visitors for years to come. “Every time I see that arrowhead, it feels like a warm welcome back to nature's grandeur,” shared John Doe, a long-time visitor. “It’s a symbol of the beauty and history that Zion protects.”

The Zion Forever Project is proud to support this effort to preserve these enduring symbols, ensuring they continue to inspire and guide visitors while enhancing the legacy of Zion National Park.

Your contribution can help make this project a reality. By supporting the replacement of these signs, you are preserving the spirit of Zion for future generations. Join us in this meaningful effort to leave a lasting mark on one of the most cherished parks in our Nation.
