Rapid Response: Investing in a New Ambulance for Lifesaving Care

Rapid Response: Investing in a New Ambulance for Lifesaving Care

Rapid Response: A Lifesaving Ambulance for Zion National Park

Emergencies don’t wait, and at Zion National Park, a dependable ambulance can mean the difference between life and death. The park’s current ambulance, after nearly a decade of service, has reached the end of its lifespan. Mechanical failures and outdated technology threaten the ability to provide timely, lifesaving care in an environment where response times are already stretched thin.

“With a 34% increase in call volume compared to last year, the need for a reliable ambulance is critical,” said William See, NPS Project Lead. “This isn’t just a vehicle; it’s a mobile clinic, a lifeline for visitors in distress.”

Caring for patients in Zion’s wilderness is no ordinary challenge. Responders often navigate rugged trails to provide initial care and transport patients to the ambulance. Once inside, the bumpy ride on uneven roads and the vehicle’s outdated suspension make providing medical care, like administering IVs or stabilizing injuries, extremely difficult. The new ambulance will feature advanced suspension technology and a robust 4x4 chassis to ensure that lifesaving procedures can be performed safely and effectively, even on Zion’s most rugged terrain.

“Our visitors deserve the best care possible, and this ambulance ensures we can deliver it,” added Tess Olsen, EMS Coordinator. “Providing care in the wilderness adds an extra layer of complexity, and we need equipment that meets those demands.”

This project reflects Zion’s commitment to protecting its visitors while enhancing the park’s reputation as a leader in emergency medical services. By investing in cutting-edge resources, Zion Forever donors will help save lives and support the people who dedicate their careers to keeping others safe.
