2008 Zion National Park Christmas Ornament
For the first time, ZNHA is introducing a special holiday ornament produced in a limited edition and available first to our members. This delicate ball is a hand-painted reproduction of a painting by Shannon Eberhard. Shannon’s image is reminiscent of her painting which was selected to represent Zion National Park on the official White House Christmas Tree in 2007. That 18-foot Fraser fir was bedecked with hundreds of handmade ornaments depicting the national parks. As NPS Director Mary Bomar put it, “Each ornament was designed by an artist selected by the park to tell the stories of our parks, just as our parks tell the stories of our nation.”
ZNHA commissioned Shannon to paint a winter scene in Zion reminiscent of the one on her White House ornament. We have produced 500 hand-painted ornaments for this holiday season and we are looking forward to the 2009 Centennial Collector Ornament available early next year.
