Geology of the Grand Staircase
October 11-12, 2008

The first day will be spent on the trails of Zion. On the second day, along the way to Snow Canyon, see the superlative geology outside the park and then descend the Hurricane Fault. From one of the most spectacular panoramas in the entire geologic world, view the Arizona Strip and the mountains that rim the Grand Canyon. We will end up at Snow Canyon, a jewel of a state park and explore the formation of recent lava caves and tubes. Our trip will end with a study of modern sand dunes.
