The celebration of the Centennial of Zion National Park officially began on August 25, 2008 with the opening of a tremendous art exhibition and with the release of the most beautiful book ever published by Zion Natural History Association.

Dry Season - Original oil painting by Kate Starling

The exhibit runs August 25, 2008 through January 24, 2009 at the St. George Art Museum in St. George, Utah and coincides with the release of the book: A Century of Sanctuary: The Art of Zion National Park. The show features more than 70 historic paintings of the park, dating back to the late 1800’s, as well as 68 contemporary paintings juried by art scholar Peter Hassrick from more than 500 pieces submitted from 38 states and several foreign countries. Enjoying such beautiful art is a great way to begin the park’s birthday celebration. Watch for many more activities as the centennial year gets underway.
